As per usual, Denny's stinky dealer got his pound of flesh after me taking a break - altho this time was 'kind enough' to allow *1* win after said break before dropping the hammer. A cruel tease.
I got the same until I noticed the unwinnable game was a 13x0!
Congratulations to d who won an unwon one in his pathway to lead (sorry for my french)
The standings look a bit different if unwinnables don't end the streak

Hop, why did you start ending the results with only the top 3? Just curious.
If you're not in it. You couldn't do it. The rest is not so important. I leave it to others. If they feel like posting the rest, they can go ahead.
I definitely prefer the whole list! Congratulations to the top 4, !!
1. d164280a (30, 100); 2. outskirts (29, 72); 3. sebcbien2 (27, 60); 4. kenwa (22, 48);Once again standings look a bit different if unwinnables don't end the streak

Nice win outskirts, must be feeling mighty important by now.
I didn't win.
Wouldn't matter if I did though.
I was looking at Winner of the Week. Equally prestigious.
Hop: "If you're not in it. You couldn't do it. The rest is not so important. I leave it to others. If they feel like posting the rest, they can go ahead."
Really? I suspect it comes down to your introduction, and fascination with, "podiums". This isn't the Olympics (unfortunately?). Speaking for myself (altho I suspect others feel similarly), the difference between #3 and #4 is ~the same as the difference between #7 and #8, for example. (Altho it's really more about the scale of those differences.) And just in case you think otherwise, this is not at all about ego; hardly. More just curiosity. And not to dismiss the concept of "podiums" entirely - just that it's far too exclusionary, imo.
Further........I think our difference on this may go back to "how did things go last time?". I've always thought it's fun to see how any variant 'played out' the time before, and the time before that, at a glance, by looking at this thread, rather than trying to find it thru your site. [Altho I'll also again admit my own difficulties with navigating your site; maybe others don't have that issue.]
AND................while at I'm at it.....................cellmate..........I don't grasp your standings - specifically the second one, based on only winnable games. The way I read it, Hop won 79 in a row yesterday, but yet the first table only shows 19. Similarly with 49ers and outskirts, showing 49(!) and 49, respectively. I'm sure I'm just not seeing the meaning correctly, and I remember I've had trouble in the past discerning it, but somehow figured it out. But can't seem to this time. Thanks for 'splaining it.....
It's like this, cell removes the unwinnables from your play history in order to show what you could have done playing winnables, if there were such a creature.
Right. That's what I thought it showed. But I can't see how Hop won 79 *just yesterday*. So I think it's the labeling that confuses me.
?? Sorry; don't follow you. Under "Longest Streak" going down vertically, it's 79, 49, 49, etc.
in the first report Hop had 8 streaks from 88 plays 79 wins 9 losses
all 9 losses were unwinnables
in the second report Hop had 1 streaks from 88 plays 79 wins 0 losses
unwinnables are counted as a play but not as a win nor a loss
so its considers it a 79 win streak
also the second report looks at both streak and winnable (if there is one) variants
So what you're seeing is cruel world vs winnable world.

intraday Elo , i'm less performing at the end of the day :-(
Oh yes, now I remember. (Even tho I of course remembered the concept all along.) As a suggestion only..........(and space may not allow)............consider labeling the first column in that second table as "Longest Streak of Winnable Games", or something similar. And I know the table carries that designation, but maybe would be clearer if the column also stated that. Thanks muchly.....
My 49 wins means I won 20, or 19, then lost one that had been lost a few times but was clearly unwinnable. Then later I won 29 more before I lost one. The weekly winner thing I have no clue and don't want one. I don't like the Hop charts! Nothing personal Hop, I'm just not into it.
My opinion is, if you want more participation, put everyone's name up there who is playing, maybe every few hours. It might pique someone's interest. Be more user friendly.
I also have no clue on the weekly winner. It was probably 'splained once when he started it, but it's not very meaningful 'cause it often would be a mixture of 'regular', 'hard', and clickfests, which would not likely attract the same players, en toto.
Thanks for the list TT. The time I could spend on this at the weekend was limited.
"I also have no clue on the weekly winner. It was probably 'splained once when he started it"
Yes if you click the link, you can find the explanation. But you don't want to click it, right? So it's not for you anyway.
"I don't like the Hop charts! Nothing personal Hop, I'm just not into it. "
They are not there for you to like it. They are my experimental project. I am learning and trying various things there. There may be some people who find them useful. They are welcomed.
I did click on the link, likely "way back when", but don't remember what I encountered. So I just did it again, and there are two separate 'buttons' for "Info". That 'first' one, the right-most in that long, horizontal bar of choices, seems inactive. But the top-right "Info" button does indeed give an explanation of what it *is* - altho no explanation of how it's calculated.
But what you say is also true - it's not for me, anyway, for the reason I noted earlier. So that's all fine. I wasn't complaining, because I knew that; I was only agreeing with (gasp!) outskirts. IMO only..........what separates (mostly) the Monday thing from the much more traditional other 2 is that it's very new, and there was almost no debate, discussion, etc. You just put it together on your own. Certainly nothing wrong with that, but there was no "runway" for people to get used to it, debate about it, see how it 'behaves', etc., etc. Maybe I'm the only one who thinks like that, but I doubt it. IF...................the competition were segregated into easy, medium, and hard categories for the whole week, that might be more attractive; don't know. It could also just be a "saturation effect".
Annnnd...........while I'm at it (again)..........I notice you've added an "X" to the 'name" of the WWC. I'm sure you have your reason, but just curious what it would be. I think most here on the discussion page still use just the "WWC".
"Annnnd...........while I'm at it (again)..........I notice you've added an "X" to the 'name" of the WWC"
Come on TN. Here we go again. Not so long ago you asked this question. And the related page has an explanation for it. That's all I can say.
I'm sure I can believe you, but not gonna go look for it. It would have been easier for you to just state it, almost certainly.
........Well..........changed my mind and went and looked. (And this time the 'lower' "Info" button actually gave info.) Eventually I found (I think) the 'explanation' - or at least it's the genesis of the WWCX. So I assume the "X" means "extension", altho I didn't explicitly find that stated? Or did I still miss it.
But I honestly don't remember having this discussion - but I'm still believing you that we did.
"But I honestly don't remember having this discussion - but I'm still believing you that we did."
TN,
See your post with "Date: Sun Jul 14 15:48:43 2024" in it.
Ok, thanks. I remember that maddening discussion and maddening efforts on my part to track that stuff down. But your "Here" only re-routes me back to the 'other' page where you discuss
Once again..........there is no definition for what the "X" means. I'm guessing it's just either "extension", or "extra". So be it. Would have been SOOOOOO much easier for you to just tell me - as now I'm *still* not positive. I'm just assuming. Enough.
This is my recollection of the change. Joey wanted different variants that were being used for the WWC and offered up the changes as the WWCX. My take on the name change is that X is in vogue like in X games.
"Joey wanted different variants that were being used for the WWC and offered up the changes as the WWCX. My take on the name change is that X is in vogue like in X games."
No. It was me who came up with the name WWCX (The link to the related discussion is given in the WWCX info tab). In software business, it's usually a common practice to "eXtend" a name with 'X' or 'eX' added at the end. These extended versions of functions are often used to support more complex features or additional parameters, and the suffixes help differentiate them from their more basic counterparts. In Windows programming, particularly when dealing with the Windows API or similar libraries.
CreateWindowEx vs. CreateWindow
MessageBoxEx vs. MessageBox
etc.
