so you're saying that sociopaths are people that don't follow your rules?
I'm quite quite sure the vast majority of this particular community's (FreeCell.net) users look negatively at external aid use...like, democratically (>50%) distasteful **when one's statistics are used in attempt at creation of an optimally accurate database.**
Play with aid as "Anonymous" is not too much to ask.
If one is gonna use some external aid, playing as "Anonymous" is not too much to ask.
KoC, Jackpot! Why didn't you think of that line long ago?
On the other hand... no such rule
You don't, your choice
I have put forth that argument many, many times, obviously to no avail. And Denny has also, multiple times, noted that he purposely has that as an option. The "choice" is indeed plain as day - and those who choose to not go that route clearly know they're in a competition. And thus.........by choosing to be on the competitive part of the site..............offenders are cheating others by not playing by the same "rules" - the rules of fair play.
What purpose do you have in *trying* to defend such? It's not a good look.
everyone knows that undo is available when logged in as Anonymous
Correct. Thus why, if one has any concern whatsoever for one's fellow man/woman........why resort to cheating? If you're just playing to enjoy the game, use the anonymous route. If not, then your ego is running the show - not your skill.
You're AGAIN missing the point. SINCE THERE'S NO WAY TO 'ENFORCE' COMPLIANCE...........Denny has been unable to 'enforce' the INTENTION. To use external aids is not cheating the game (really, since it's impossible to make it so) -- IT'S CHEATING OTHER PLAYERS. That's what you're not absorbing. When using a player name, one is COMPETING with other players - thus "fair play" is the implied 'rule'. It's just common sense. We've been over this again and again - and for some reason you're not getting that key point. And I give up on you, at least - unless you can comprehend that point.
In most, or a very large number of places, marital fidelity is no longer technically "illegal", but it's still "cheating". Get it? You would be cheating another person, not 'the law'. But it's still very much "cheating".
i am far more aware of the situation than you give me credit for....
'implied rule'? give me a break... that's your rule. compliance to your rule cannot be enforced
if it changed today, what do you expect to happen? all past stats suddenly cleansed? every future play according to your 'standard'?
As I wrote earlier..........I/we know you're young, and that's cool, but I hope you can find a moral compass somewhere along the line. I'm pretty sure you will, but life is much easier if you can find one earlier rather than later. Good luck.
i'm not young, and my moral compass is just fine

"No such rule
Get over it"
Get over it? And quoting yourself? That's rare air. Previously occupied by only one other poster.
cellmate, if you have no skin in the game, you should simply walk away. And since we're quoting old poets: one might get the impression that "the lady doth protest too much."

Some 6x4 (level 5) games are waaay too difficult for level 5, imo!!!
You don't make the rules. You accuse others of conjuring rules that don't exist, and you are doing exactly the same thing with your harsh criticisms. It would be different if you limited your dictums strictly to those with an axe to grind, but your net includes anyone who disagrees with you, even when they are not addressing you. (You went after BrewCrewOldSkool? Are you kidding?)
Simply put: You do not have the authority to tell people what to post.
No cards, no crib sheets, no solver. Just an aging brain.

The following was posted on another thread. You two (?) need to read it.

Hm. So, games MUST be played in streak mode to count for Elo. Thus, playing (and losing) a game one or more times with external aids but ultimately winning without registering the loss(es) is altering streaks and Elo ratings; but, any form of non-streak play has no impact on Elo. I was only aware of part of that.
Winning games with "help" affects a lot of players; bragging about it is pure bullgrits, multiplied by the X number of threads dedicated to such bragging.

(I understand why raging about such things is annoying when nothing can be done about it, but the endless parade of posts bragging about it feels like kicking sand in the face of anyone not engaging in such practices.)

Players who wish to handicap themselves, are welcome to do so!
I think that the (vast?) majority of players are more interested in speed than accuracy!
I also think that the vast majority of players are NOT reading this discussion board...
But you ARE reading it -- thus being willfully selfish. You know better - and yet still choose to exalt yourself unfairly.
It seems she thinks she's better than the "handicaped" player. A better player. A better person.

If I were a little person I'd also like to wear stilts on the volleyball court, but gut-wrenching sheepishness and shameful tears in the eyes would preclude the soul from doing so.
Sir (or ma'am, as it may be) I'm rather impressed with your utter lack of shamefacedness.
Is there a thread anywhere on Games I have nearly won during a bathroom break? If so, I'd like to contribute to it.
Glad I went for spades instead of my gut instinct.
Wrong thread. That should be in never won winnables. :)
Personally I think that threads like "help me solve this game" and "is this game as hard as I thought it was" would be much more useful than all this clutter.
Sorry. I just figured it was winnable because I won it and it was seldom because 1 win is less than a lot of wins, therefore, seldom.
Of the brag threads never won is the most prestigious. Your magnificent win deserves to be posted there.
Thank you very much. There are just so many to choose from, it does get confusing.
You can ask Tony if you need help deciding which thread to post. I'm sure he will be happy to assist you.

WOW, 112 losses! Probably some players tried multiple times.
I suspect that the other 3 wins were 1) not on the 1st try, and/or 2) were achieved using aids...

BUT, I only got this one on my 2nd try.
Ellie2: "WOW, 112 losses! Probably some players tried multiple times."
Did you happen to keep track of how many 'tries' you had? Over 50? 100?
Certainly not -- each "try" takes me about an hour, and sometimes more (even as much as 5 hours).
Well, at least you've admitted that you had multiple "tries". The next step in your recovery is to accept that each of those failed "tries" counts as a "loss" - because you failed to win it. You're making progress! Come to the light........
