Message:Only Bristol.City.Football.Club has played and won 8x0 and 7x1.
He even had a few tries at 7x0.
Howcome it does not show up on the list to choose what you want to play.
How did Bristol do it?

Message:Choose "Custom" and then pick the numer of freecells and columns you want. (I just selected a 5x1!- think I had much of a chance?)
Apparently, Bristol.City has selected those two variants you asked about from time to time. (They don't show in the normal selections, so you hyave to "build them" by choosing the free cells and columns you want.)
I wonder if a 1x1 is possible? I'm gonna check it out...
(In the method above, that was in the Internet Explorer "left side." I think the "right side" method is a little different."

Message:Nope. The smallest I could find was 4 columns x 0 freecells on the IE side. Pretty damn near impossible, if you ask me. (I didn't come in through the right (Java) side. If I recall correctly, you might be able to type in numbers on that side, so perhaps a 1x0 could be theoretically possible- no time to look now...)

Message:Thanks calico. Snowguy how do you build them?

Message:You build them by choosing "Specify" (on the Java side), choosing a game number, and then the number of columns, rows, and freecells. That must be how you go about picking those variants that don't show as normal in the game drop down menu. I was not aware that you could pick games that don't have stats on the scores page!

Message:Uhhh,
Scratch that, I tried to input a 8x0 game, and I got invalid response. Is it possible that these used to be playable variants, and are not available any longer? Not sure on this one.

Message:The topic of 7x1 and 8x0s has been brought up before, and BCFC himself (presumably anyway - he used the name "bristols") talked of how he manipulated some code or other to bring those variants up into streak play. I can't find the original topic, but perhaps someone else can help. Specifying this variant in Java won't get you onto the streak lists, however.

Message:2_FAST_4_U is just my other username. I don't think that they were playable varients before because more people would have won them.
BCFC all so played some 7x0s

On the left (IE) side, you can go as low as 4x0. (Using the "Custom" feature.)
But, on the right (Java) side, you have stricter limitations, using the "Specify" feature. The least number of Freecells you can choose on that side is 4, which is why I could not duplicate the 4x0 I got on the IE side. I could only go to 4x4.

Message:At the other extreme, the standard (left-side) version allows you to play 13x10, a variant which, at the lower levels, is surprisingly easy to win with your eyes closed.

Message:13x10 Difficulty Level 1. I tried it, and it's a real giggle. But, I couldn't play that more than one or two times.
